These paleo chocolate cake brownies were her creation to satisfy that sweet tooth. They are delish!! They helped my sweet tooth as well! Enjoy. Ingredients 2 oz unsweetened chocolate, chopped ½ c coconut oil, melted, ¼ c pasture butter ¼ c organic raw honey 1 T pure maple syrup 3 large eggs, room temperature 2 t vanilla extract ½ c almond flour ¼ c coconut flour ¾ c unsweetened cocoa powder ¼ t sea salt ½ c semisweet dairy and soy free chocolate chips (optional) Step 1: Preheat oven to...

Celia’s Journey: Journal Entry 1

The first week has come and gone. My how time goes by so quickly. I started eating paleo and the Dr. Brown Diet again, and my goodness the struggle is real. Anyone who ever said staying on the straight and narrow was easy, well they are a big (probably not so thick) fibber. When you create a habit of eating not so healthy and over indulging in each and every thing your little heart could desire, it's no easy task to cut it out cold turkey. I did struggle this week and caught my self finding a way to...

Celia’s Story

So with summer fast approaching and a friend's wedding on the horizon, my beautiful right hand woman, Celia, has some wellness goals she is trying to reach. In the past year and half, Celia has already shown me she is a dedicated hard-worker, so I have no doubt that she will reach her goals, and I am excited that Marpé gets to be a part of it! Over the next few days, we will go into more detail on her plan to get fit by summer and how she is going to use Dr. Brown's Diet and her own...

Featured Recipe: Paleo Chips and Salsa

Probably the snack that my husband and I most often "cheat" on is corn tortillas chips and salsa. It is absolutely our FAVORITE salty snack. So naturally when Celia suggested featuring one of her famous salsa recipes, I was immediately on-board but with one stipulation ... that she came up with a paleo "tortilla chip" recipe as well! The two recipes she landed on are both seriously DELISH. The salsa has just enough kick with that fresh homemade taste that can't be found in the store-bought jars. And the chips provide the crunch you crave and make for the...

Featured Recipe: Pecan Butter Wafer Cookies

So this weekend Marpé had the privilege of spending some time with our new friends over at Frisco Farm Stop! Micah and I spent the afternoon talking with customers about the Dr. Brown {paleo} Diet and sampling a brand new recipe from our very own, Chef Celia. This week we gave her the challenge of coming up with a recipe that was not only Dr. Brown approved but also used only ingredients that are available at the Farm Stop from the awesome vendors over there. Here's what she came up with {and it was pretty darn good if we...

Featured Recipe: Strawberry Banana Cream Trifle

With Easter coming up, Celia thought it would be a great idea to feature a beautiful {paleo} dessert that would dress up any Easter brunch table. She more than hit the mark with this one... not only is it absolutely gorgeous but the taste is oh em gee amazing. My kids literally said it was the most delicious dessert they had ever had!!! They had no idea nor cared that it was gluten-free, grain-free and naturally sweetened... it's just that good! Ingredients: Coconut Pound Cake 6 eggs 1 C coconut milk ½ c honey 1 t vanilla extract 1 c coconut flour ¼ t baking soda ¼ t...

Featured Recipes: Springtime Refreshers

After such a long winter, I am oh so grateful for this porch worthy weather we have been having this past week. These two springtime beverages are perfect for sitting out on the patio watching the kiddos play in the backyard. Plus they make for great Mom + Dr. Brown approved treats to help cool the kids off as well! The first one featured here is an all natural lemonade sweetened only with watermelon and raw honey. Take that Minutemaid (and all other high fructose corn syrup sweetened drinks!) The second is more of a smoothie using frozen fruit...

Featured Recipe: Orange Honey Marmalade

So 0ne of the recipes Celia included in our meal plan coming up in a few weeks calls for orange marmalade... (spoiler alert: it also calls for beef ribs, chipotle, and cooking all day long in the crockpot... o.m.g. DELISH!) Surprisingly we were actually able to find a Dr. Brown approved bottled orange marmalade, but we thought it might be nice to have a fresh homemade version as well. Seriously, this stuff is so good! I can't wait to have it atop some paleo toast or biscuits! Check it out! Ingredients 2 lg oranges 1 lg lemon 3 T raw honey 1 cup dry...

Featured Recipe: Turkey Bacon Wrapped Stuffed Jalepeños

So if you are like me, you are probably always on the lookout for yummy appetizer recipes. These stuffed jalepeños are perfect for any occasion ... a family bar-b-que, a girl's night in, or even a fancy work party. Or make them for yourself over the weekend and have them available as quick, delicious real food snacks throughout the week. They are so good... you  may not want to share! 😉 Ingredients: 7 medium jalapeño peppers 6 oz herbed cashew cheese or herbed goat cheese 1 tsp paprika 1 package uncured turkey bacon Step 1: Preheat oven to 425F and wash jalepenos. Step 2: Slice in half...

Valentine’s Day Fun!

This post is going up a little later than I hoped because I've been busy running around like crazy preparing for Valentine's for my kiddos (last minute like I always do.) But I decided to share what all I've been up to while I should've been writing this blog entry featuring divine paleo chocolate covered strawberries (and I promise that recipe is included at the end!) So I tried my very hardest not to be "THAT" mom this year... you know the one who stays up late into the night creating pinterest-inspired Valentines?! Well, I had the best of intentions...

Mint Chocolate Yumminess…

So it's that time of year again where all the cute little Girl Scouts come around and taunt us real food eaters everywhere we look with tasty cookies that are connected to fond childhood memories. Since clearly there isn't a single box that is Dr. Brown approved, I do my best to limit myself to buying only two boxes of thin mints each year (sorry Girl Scouts), which I immediately put in the freezer, and slowly eat over the next few months doing my best to hide them from my children the entire time (I know I am a mean,...
