Seared Cumin Tuna Steak

Description

Fresh lime juice, cayenne pepper, and cilantro bring this dish south of the border and are sure to create a fiesta in your mouth!


Scale

Ingredients

  • 4 (6 oz) tuna steaks (3/4 in thick)
  • 2 T cumin seeds or ground cumin
  • 1/4 t garlic powder
  • 1/4 t sea salt
  • 1/8 t ground cayenne pepper
  • 2 T unrefined coconut oil
  • 2 T freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 2 T coarsely chopped fresh cilantro

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine cumin, garlic powder, sea salt, and cayenne pepper; stir to blend.
  2. Sprinkle cumin mixture evenly over fish, coating it completely.
  3. Heat coconut oil in a large skillet with a lid to lessen splattering.
  4. Sear fish for approximately 3 minutes.
  5. Turn fish over and sprinkle with lime juice, continue to cook until lightly browned on the outside and opaque in the center, approximately 3 minutes.
  6. Transfer to plates and garnish with cilantro.
